Brownley for Assembly

Almost six years ago Fran Pavley became our 41st State Assembly District representative, overcoming an opponent who outspent her substantially. Now, with Fran's term in the Assembly coming to an end, we have a chance to elect her own chosen successor, a woman very much like Fran who also stands to be widely outspent in the coming campaign.

This is Julia Brownley, a woman who, like Fran, has risen from the grass roots and who today serves as president of the Santa Monica-Malibu School Board. I have had the pleasure of meeting and speaking with Julia and she combines the kind of gracious citizen-legislator style and demonstrated passion for educational excellence and environmental protection that Fran has so long exemplified in our district.

With the endorsements of State Sen. Shelia Kuehl, the California League of Conservation Voters, the California Federation of Teachers, the Democratic Party of the San Fernando Valley and, of course, Fran Pavely, Julia is the demonstrated progressive candidate in this race, the candidate most clearly suited to continue Fran's work in the Assembly.

I hope my fellow Democrats will join me in choosing Julia Brownley in the approaching Democratic primary. Jack Solomon Calabasas
