Jewish Academy to present spring semester classes The Conejo Jewish Academy will begin its spring semester on Tues., May 2. Offered will be classes, study groups, lectures, workshops and a variety of study opportunities geared specifically for teenagers. Following are some of the many courses available. Some courses are free of charge. The academy is at 30345 Canwood St., Agoura Hills. "Kabbalistic Tools in Battling Negativity" is a three-part course that will explore how one combats the forces of negativity including depression, melancholy, anxiety and stress. The course is offered at 8 p.m. Tuesdays beginning May 9. The fee is $18. "The World of Prayer" will help participants transform prayers into a spiritual vehicle for connection with God. The class meets at 8 p.m. Tuesdays starting May 2. "Spirituality Through Feminine Eyes" is a weekly class for women on Chassidic teachings of the Torah and the Kabbalah. It meets at 8 p.m. Tuesdays starting May 2 at a private home in Agoura Hills. "Wednesday Lunch 'N Learn" with Rabbi Moshe Bryski is at 12:30 p.m. starting May 3, and will focus on the power of repentance and the mystical meaning behind "The Thirteen Divine Attributes of Mercy."A lunch follows the one-hour class. "From Sinai to Cyberspace" will examine the fundamental questions relating to the laws of Judaism, including: Is there any evidence that the Bible text is divine and true? How can one understand its cryptic passages? Who has the right to interpret the Bible? How do we adapt its laws to modern times and changing influences? The course will meet at 8 p.m. Thursdays starting May 4. The fee is $36. "Friday Women's Class with the Rabbi" meets at noon at a private home in Agoura Hills, starting April 28. This semester will discuss "In Pursuit of Truth: Myths of the Middle East." The Academy will also offer courses and study groups in Simi Valley, Newbury Park, Thousand Oaks and Calabasas.
