Earth Walk on April 22

The annual Earth Walk L.A. 2006 event, presented in support of the 36th annual observance of Earth Day, will be held at 10 a.m. Sat., April 22 at Pierce College, 6201 Winnetka Ave., Woodland Hills.

Guided walks will be offered throughout the day to introduce guests to what the college is doing to help preserve the environment.

The second annual event will feature wide-ranging activities including sustainable presentations, a tree planting ceremony and interactive art projects demonstrating how to transform trash into art.

Vendors will showcase a range of organic products and additional highlights of the day will include environmental displays and music.

Proceeds from Earth Walk L.A. support TreePeople, a Los Angeles-based nonprofit environmental group. TreePeople's mission is to inspire the people of Los

Angeles to take personal responsibility for the urban forest by educating, training and supporting them as they plant and care for trees and improve the neighborhoods in which they live, learn, work and play.

TreePeople's programs restore watersheds and fragile habitats,

revitalize inner-city communities, cools and greens campuses, and addresses serious urban issues including water and energy conservations, flood prevention, and stormwater pollution.
