OPHS runners blaze a vapor trail at Arcadia Invitational

Oak Park's girls' 4 x mile relay team of Kelsey Connor (5:12), Marissa Diehl (5:30), Bree Strenkowski (5:22) and Courtney Lightfoot (5:01) posted the third-fastest time in the country at last weekend's Arcadia Invitational.

The girls finished the race in 21:05.97, just seven seconds behind the second-place squad. The time was an Oak Park girls' school record, said head coach Kevin Smith.

"These girls just continue to impress me," Smith said. "What they are accomplishing is both amazing and gratifying."

The team will run again at this weekend's Mt. SAC Relays, although they'll be without Strenkowski, who's at a different meet. Courtney Jackson will run in Strenkowski's place, Smith said.
