Westlake wall should be a lesson

The dreaded "Westlake Wall" at Lindero Canyon is now unanimously held to be a nightmarish eyesore and is only marginally less visually offensive than the hideous structures it houses.

Although some fought to prevent it, I am guessing that many who were apathetic in voicing their objections now wish they had. Beautiful ridgelines and mountain views that originally provoked locals to move there are now obscured forever.

Agoura Hills now faces a similar crisis involving the proposed Heschel West School campus, a 17-acre monstrosity that proponents wish to place precisely in the most pristine and inappropriate of locations and will also be an eyesore to residents and those accessing Cheseboro State Park.

It is my hope that the citizens of Agoura will break with the precedent set by the Westlake Wall before it's too late and tell Heschel proponents who are primarily outsiders to Agoura to find a location for their project that won't leave those of us who love our city, our open space and our lifestyle remembering Agoura as it used to be.
