A deep history of flooding

The discovery of an old car frame buried behind A.E. Wright Middle School during the recent Malibu Creek Watershed clean up was certainly a grim reminder of the floods of 1981 and 1982.

During the storms, people and cars were swept off the roads and into the creeks. Recovering the remains of local residents took precedence over recovering and identifying car parts.

It took a great deal of time and effort to remove the pieces of cars which were visible. Thus, nature eventually claimed that which had been left behind. Robin G. Mitchell Calabasas
