Arthritis class helps to ease pains Do you have arthritis or another debilitating disease? Does the disease keep you from doing the things you have always done and like to do? There is help. Registration is open for the Arthritis Foundation Self-Help Course which helps those with arthritis, fibromyalgia, lupus and other chronic pain issues to learn about their disease and how to live a more productive and fulfilling life with the problems they face on a daily basis. The course is offered by the Arthritis Foundation and the Agoura Hills Senior Center. Class attendees will receive practical information about pain management, coping with anger and depression, nutrition, fatigue, medications and more. The course will meet from 10 a.m. to noon on six Wednesdays from April 19 through May 24 at the Agoura Hills Senior Center, 30610 Thousand Oaks Blvd. For registration and fee information, please call Emily Melo at the Agoura Hills Senior Center at (818) 597-7361. Arthritis is the number one cause of disability in the United States and affects people of all ages, races and income levels. One in three adults has been diagnosed. In addition, more than 300,000 children are diagnosed with arthritis, some as young as 3 months old. The Arthritis Foundation is dedicated to finding treatment and a cure for these debilitating diseases, as well as helping those who have it to improve their lives through prevention, management and control of the disease. |
