Heschel West staff attends Jewish education seminar

From March 19 to 21 in Boston, staff members of the Heschel West Day School in Agoura Hills attended the Partnership for Excellence in Jewish Education (PEJE) Assembly for Jewish Day School Education.

In attendance were Principal Jan Saltsman; Judy Einbund, director of admissions; David Rifkind, outgoing board president; Roger Bloxberg, incoming board president; and Steven Raft, vice president of finance

The assembly recognized the success of Heschel West and asked Saltsman, Einbund and Rifkind to be presenters at the conference.

"There's never been a more exciting time for Jewish day schools," said Rabbi Joshua Elkin, PEJE executive director.

"Our record-breaking attendance is further proof that the day school movement is coming into its own, thanks to new donors stepping up with unprecedented support, and lay and professional leaders who are increasingly skilled in fundraising, marketing and educational excellence. The word is getting out that when it comes to raising strong Jews, day schools work," said Elkin.

The secrets behind this growth and the cutting-edge strategies that continue to fuel it were discussed by speakers Ron Heifeitz and Doug Reeves, leading thinkers and practitioners who challenged old paradigms and sparked new ideas for growth during the workshops.

In addition, partners networked with other day school leaders and consulted with experts who assessed each school's strengths and challenges.

The Partnership for Excellence in Jewish Education is a collaborative initiative of major philanthropic partners whose mission is to grow Jewish day school enrollment and ensure the long-term vitality of all Jewish day schools.
