Stop bashing the Sheriff

Those bashing the Sheriff'Department for getting tickets arprobably the same drivers who instead of patiently waiting in thright turn lane to get onto the 101

West from Kanan, pass everyonby and enter the on ramp by turning right from the center lane. These are probably the samdrivers, who forced the county to put up a barrier at the exit oMedea Creek Middle School in Oak Park because they continuously ignore the right turn onlsign.

Could it be that those not happy with all the tickets being issued are the same drivers who mistake Kanan, between Lindero Canyon and Westlake Boulevard as an extension of the Ventura freeway?

These drivers believe that the rules do not apply to them. Have we forgotten the 14-year-old who died as a passenger in a single car accident near North Ranch Country Club, or the kids who lost their lives when their speeding Mercedes careened off a wall on Westlake Boulevard during the Christmas holidays a few years ago?

When I think of this loss of life which has resulted solely from driving accidents, it sickens me as I read these letters from those who complain about the sheriff's deputies in the area. Maybe, just maybe, the heightened and welcomed activity by the local deputies have helped to save some lives. Bruce Beck Oak Park
