Now the rest of the story

The article by Avi Rutschman on Brad Altman's experience with Peru's Challenge was enjoyable. His in-depth interview gives us a glimpse into the altruistic dedication that Altman shares with Third World children.

As a friend of the family, I would like to add some pertinent information. The article implies that his parents did not support Brad's endeavor. Phil and Anne Altman actually paid thousands of dollars so that Brad could spend months in South America volunteering, and additionally sent along hundreds of dollars worth of cleats, balls and sports equipment for the Peruvian children.

Anne, a credentialed teacher, also went to the remote village for two weeks to help her son set up the summer school program for poverty stricken youngsters. The positive efforts are a direct result of collaboration, support and devotion from willing parents who place a high value on repairing the world.

Most college graduates do not get this amazing experience because the financial obligations are too demanding; therefore, his parents need to be commended for their support and allowing their son to fulfill a dream. Hilary Matthew Agoura Hills
