'Frankenstein' subdivision

Triangle Ranch is back in a big way. After being turned down by the planning commission, the developers have made a token 12 percent reduction in their plan which is in some ways worse than the first one-77 homes in three tracts stretching far along Kanan on the slopes of Ladyface Mountain and jammed onto graded-flat knolls on the east side of Kanan and behind the fire station on Cornell Road. Commissioner Helsley has called for a much greater reduction but his advice and widespread popular protest has seemingly been ignored.

It's time once more for us to show our opposition to this Frankenstein subdivision and point out how it will increase already intolerable traffic, hurt wildlife and deface the gateway to the Santa Monica Mountains.

The next and possibly decisive hearing is going to be held on Wed., April 5 at 9 a.m. at the L.A. County Planning Commission hearing room in the Hall of Records. Free transportation is available from Agoura. We will be in front of the Vons Market on Kanan Road at 7 a.m. and we will leave by 7:30 a.m. We will probably be back before 2 p.m. Please leave your name and number and e-mail address at (818) 734-0775.

We moved to this beautiful environment to get away from what it could well become if we don't now stand up and speak. The commission needs to see that people really care. There is no substitute for being there. Colleen Holmes President, Cornell Preservation Association
