Doling out the traffic

We have a traffic disaster shaping up at the intersection of Lindero Canyon and Via Colinas when traffic is heavy.

Even before the Dole Hotel complex and the eventual Marriott properties open, traffic is backing up for blocks in every direction during peak hours thanks to this poorly-designed new intersection. Our business is located across the street from the new Dole complex and employee and truck access is becoming intolerable.

Not only have the traffic signals gone "dumb" again (not recognizing traffic/ vehicle presence), but I shudder to think what the addition of hundreds more cars-many piloted by visitors unfamiliar with the area-will bring when Dole, Marriott, and other new developments are opened later this year.

I used to think that the Kanan/ 101 overpass was the worst intersection in the Conejo. It looks like Westlake has taken that title in a knockout. Here come the accidents, road rage, and soon, decreased property values. I think the corner needs fundamental redesign-not with paint, but with a jackhammer. Quinn Mayer Envel Design Corp., Westlake
