HISTORY COMES ALIVE-"From Philadelphia to the Front," a film about a group of men reminiscing about World War II, will be shown at the Jewish Film Festival at Temple Beth Haverim in Agoura Hills. Temple Beth Haverim will be the exclusive Conejo Valley venue for the Los Angeles Jewish Film Festival. "The Night Trotsky Came to Dinner," directed by November Wanderin, will be screened at 7 p.m., Tues., April 4. This 12minute film parodies historical fiction, documentary and early silent Yiddish films and deconstructs a family legend.

"From Philadelphia to the Front," directed by Judy Gelles and Marianne Bernstein, will also be screened. Gelles will be on hand for a question-and-answer session after the screening.

The 36-minute film is about six elderly Jewish men, all from Philadelphia, who reminisce about serving in World War II. The film has a surprising point of view as the men speak not with the same kind of reverence we've grown used to, but with an unstudied perspective on bigotry, fear and honor. Their experiences fighting antiSemitism both at home and abroad offer new insight into a generation that transformed modern American Jewry.

Several animated short films will also be shown that evening.

The film festival is sponsored by the New JCC (Jewish Community Center) at Milkin with assistance from the Jewish Federation and other supporters.

Admission for the screenings is $10 at the door or buy tickets online at www.lajfilmfest.org. For reservations, call Amy at the JCC (818) 464-3300.
