Logo artist needed for Senior Concerns

Time is running out for prospective participants in the two major fundraising events sponsored annually by Senior Concerns, the nonprofit social service agency that has provided quality-of-life programs for special need seniors and their caregiving families in Ventura and Western Los Angeles counties since 1975.

"Fri., March 31 is the final date for area artists to file entry forms for the competition to produce an original graphic theme to promote Senior Concerns' annual August culinary extravaganza, the Ultimate Dining Experience," said Celina Agate-Brandt, events coordinator. "And Fri., April 14, is the last day for artists or graphic designers to submit their original piece of artwork for judging."

The winning entry in the artist's competition will be selected by an area panel of judges. The winning artist will be introduced as an honorary guest at the Ultimate Dining Experience, provided the opportunity to display additional personal artwork, and be awarded a cash prize.

Team packets are now available from Senior Concerns for individuals wishing to start a Love Run team or assist in fundraising for the June 4 event. The Love Run benefits the agency's Meal on Wheels program. This 13th annual USATFcertified event will include 5K and 10K runs around Westlake Lake, a 5K walk, 1K kids run and 1K fun walk.

For the past 12 years, hundreds of runners and strollers have joined in the Love Run, helping to provide more than 50,000 nutritious meals per year delivered to homebound seniors.

In addition to Meals on Wheels, Senior Concerns operates an adult day center and recreation club, the Senior Advocates information and referral service, Financial Abuse Specialist Team, Alzheimer's Day Care Resource Center, and the Bargain Boutique and Thrift Shop.

Senior Concerns is at 401 Hodencamp Road between Wilbur Road and Hillcrest Drive in Thousand Oaks.
