Lowe's needed a majority

I agree with Lou Gates of Westlake Village 100 percent regarding the necessity of a citywide referendum on the Lowe's project. There were only four councilperson votes and two were for and two against. Since when does that make a majority?

I find it reprehensible that the council acceded to the wishes of the Do-It Center owners. I have shopped at their store for 30 years and would continue to shop there when needed; however, Lowe's carries many products that Do-It Center does not.

Office buildings do not create the artful and colorful ambiance that the Lowe's builders offered. Office buildings also bring many more employees from out of the area creating more congestion at the wrong times. There are numerous office buildings being built right next door to the proposed Lowe's project. Why do we need more?

The businesses proposed for the Lowe's project would have consumers coming in and out at various times of the day and would create no more traffic than Costco has. Helen Carpenter Westlake Village
