Calabasas Historical Society to learn about pioneers

The Calabasas Historical Society will meet on Tues., March 21 at the city of Calabasas Library, 23975 Park Sorrento, Calabasas for a program on pioneers. For event time, please call Arlene Bernholtz at (818) 2225680.

The public is invited to attend, and admission is free.

Author Mary Lou Pozzo will present a discussion and slide show on her book "Founding Sisters," about the 38 pioneer women who braved the harsh land once known as the utopian colony of Los Terenitos or the Little Lands, now known as Tujunga.

"Their diverse stories, coupled with never-before-seen photos, give voice to these courageous women who were part of the American West and the development of Southern California," according to Bernholtz.

Also on the program is guest speaker Mary Huff, who wrote "Grandma Ann," a story of her great-grandmother as told by her grandmother. She has published a collection of reminiscences of the Johnson family in the 1860s.
