Disappointed by Dole wall Development in the city of Westlake Village has been professionally and tastefully managed in the past, providing residents a beautiful place to call home. Businesses have beautifully landscaped setbacks and the buildings and other structures have met high aesthetic standards. The city's decision to permit the Costco and the Albertson's Plaza development has proven beneficial to the community and to the residents. I consider the design of the Dole Headquarters building another example of architectural excellence. I assumed that the development of the hotel and spa would reflect the quality and high standards of the Dole headquarters and I assumed that the city of Westlake Village would accept no less. But when the huge compoundtype wall was erected with a very shallow setback, my concern grew. The cinder block wall is offensive and even freeway planners have designed more attractive sound walls than the Dole wall. How ironic that the city is undergoing beautification projects, but allows a private developer to do something like this. It is seems clear that the city council is unable to maintain the high standards that the residents have come to expect and enjoy. Regina Casey Westlake Village |
