Oak Park names new rec officers

New officers for the Oak Park Recreation and Park Planning Committee have been selected. Committee Chair Jerry Kaman and Vice Chair Steve Wong were each elected to serve one-year terms. Kaman is a consultant engineer/technical manager serving the TV broadcast industry. Wong is a local realtor.

Committee members Mike Green, Michael Sklar and Steve Iceland will each serve a twoyear term.

The final two committee members, also serving two-year terms, are Mary Rees, appointed by the Oak Park Unified School District, and Jay Kaptiz, appointed by the Oak Park Municipal Advisory Council. These two positions help ensure coordination between the three Oak Park governing bodies: Ventura County, the school district and Rancho Simi Recreation and Park District.

The committee reviews matters of interest before the issues are considered by the park district's five-member board of directors.

The committee meets quarterly on the second Thursday in January, April, July and October at the Oak Park Community Center and Gardens, 1000 Kanan Road, Oak Park. Residents are always welcome to attend committee and board meetings.
