Cruel punishment We had all thought that we had witnessed all the evil in the world lately; however, this past week my family was confronted by the lowest kind of evil and cruelty that exists in people who simply have no conscience for their fellow man’s suffering. My mother-in-law is 81 years old and in a nursing home/rehabilitation facility after falling and breaking her hip. Prior to this most unfortunate accident, her only means of transportation of a daily basis as her motorized scooter which remained chained to a steel pole outside her apartment when not in use. Sometime in the middle of the night, some non-caring low-life cut the chain securing the scooter to the pole and stole the scooter. My mother-in-law is undergoing constant rehabilitation and physical therapy and will eventually be released to go home with no methods of transporting herself through her daily life, thanks to the theft of her $5,000 motorized scooter. What has the world come to when there are types of people living amongst us who would stoop to this level and leave a senior citizen without their only means of daily transportation? Are we so callous that some who live in our midst would find easy profit in the suffering of one of our senior citizens? If there are some of you out there who would like to aid my mother-in-law to attain a new scooter, please send your contributions to 5305 Francisca Way, Agoura Hills, CA 91301, att: Lola Bender. We all thank you. Mitchell A. Bohn Agoura Hills |
