IT’S ALL IN THE DETAILS—Dozens of artists will display their miniature creations at the annual California Egg Artistry Show and Sale coming to the Hyatt W estlake Plaza the weekend of March 4. Decorating eggs follows a long tradition of artistic endeavor. The 27th annual California Egg Artistry Show and Sale will be from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Sat., March 4 and from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Sun., March 5 at the Hyatt Westlake Plaza, 880 S. Westlake Blvd., Westlake Village.

Local, national, and international artists will display their creative efforts. In the style of Fabergé, their works of art are created from actual eggshells. Each shell is marked, cut, and decorated by hand.

“They are given as expressions of the love and friendship that lie in the heart of the giver,” said Beverly Hills artist Carol Ganzi, who is hosting the event.

Artists have transformed eggs into working carousels, musical jewelry boxes, beaded clocks, miniature perfume bottles, Christmas tree ornaments, or even an “egg-quarium” complete with water and live fish.

They carve and paint them, line them with fabrics then jewel them with fine Austrian cut crystals.

There will be seminars and exhibits by artists from the U. S., Japan, Australia, the Netherlands, England and Canada at the show.

Admission is $5 for adults and $3 for children under age 3. Hourly door prize drawings and raffles will be held.
