Business women rewarded

Karen Dry Karen Dry The Women’s Council of the Building Industry Association of Southern California received eight awards at the 2006 International Builders Show in Orlando, Fla. recently, the most awards presented to one council nationally.

The awards are given as scholarship funds ranging from $150 to $1,000 and will be given by the council to individuals who continue their education in the building and housing industry.

Calabasas resident Karen Dry, Women’s Council, president, received “Spikette of the Year” for her efforts in recruiting new members.

Dry’s business, Garrett Interiors, is in Westlake Village.

There are more than 200 women’s councils nationally and all compete in the annual competition.

The local council events are held at the Westlake Inn, North Ranch Community Center, Sherwood Development and North Ranch Country Club.

Other awards receivecd by the Southern California women include Council of the Year, Council Award for Member Recruitment and Retention, Council Award for Best Legislative and Political Action, and Council Award for Most Congressional Contact Recruitment.
