Dunn was the only Marmonte wrestler to win a Southern Section championship last weekend when he defeated Jason Lara of Calvary Chapel of Santa Ana in the 119-pound final.

Westlake senior Arian Ghaffari finished in third place in the 112pound division and will also advance to Masters.

“It’s the farthest a Westlake kid’s gone in a long, long time,” Warrior head coach John Cuccia said.

“For us to be a part of representing the Marmonte League at Masters,” Cuccia said, “I’m extremely proud of the program and I’m extremely proud of Ari.”

Agoura senior Devin Conroy will wrestle in the 130-pound division. Cameron Teitelman of Calabasas will compete in the 125-pound weight class.

Teitelman, a Stanford-bound senior, made it to the Southern Section 125-pound final before losing to Aaron Navarrete of Temecula Valley.

The majority of the Marmonte grapplers scheduled to compete at Masters took part in a pair of practice sessions this week at Royal.

Burns said at this point in the season, the Marmonte coaches like to see any local wrestler do well.

“It nice to have a good showing from the league,” Burns said. “If we can get a good showing from the county, that’s always a plus too.

“Even though the kid may not be ours from our school, it’s good to see the area well represented,” Burns said.

The CIF Masters Meet is scheduled to begin at noon Friday in Fountain Valley. Saturday’s action gets underway at 9 a.m.
