A bad rap

As the parent of a 2005 Oak Park Neighborhood School graduate I am deeply angered by the letter published in last week’s paper (“School gets low marks”).

For two years my oldest child successfully attended the preschool and I have recently enrolled my youngest child in the program. My eldest child’s preschool experience was extremely positive and he looked forward to going to school everyday.

Over the past few years it has been exciting to see the school grow. I have experienced firsthand how the dedicated staff enjoys teaching the children through creative play, while focusing on each child’s individual strengths and interests.

As a community I feel we are very fortunate to have this preschool available to us. Because the preschool is located on the elementary school campus it helps make the kindergarten transition less intimidating for the children and because it is a local preschool for Oak Park families, children are able to establish strong friendships that will carry through to elementary school.

Myself along with many other Oak Park parents are grateful to the hard-working and dedicated staff at OPNS for creating a wonderful foundation for our children’s education. Cindi Marincic Oak Park
