Volunteers appreciated in Westlake Village The Westlake Village City Council showed its appreciation at a recent meeting to the many residents who volunteer their time to the city. During a special ceremony, Mayor Sue McSweeney, Mayor Pro Tem Jim Bruno and Councilmembers Mark Rutherford and Phillipa Klessig recognized the contributions of Westlake’s altruistic residents. “Volunteers help make Westlake Village the special place that it is,” McSweeney said during the recognition function. Because Westlake is relatively small, tight knit community, many residents like to get involved with civic activities and volunteer opportunities. Members of various city volunteer organizations were awarded with a handshake and a Westlake Village thermos with a carrying case. The volunteer organizations that were recognized included the City Celebration Committee, the Cultural Recreation Advisory Board, Volunteers in Policing, the Community Service Funds Advisory Committee, the 2015 Committee, the Westlake Village Foundation and the Disaster Relief Team. The organizations assist the city with fundraising activities, event planning and health and safety issues. Those interested in volunteering for the city should call Westlake Village City Hall at (818) 706-1613. |
