Asking a few pertinent questions can go a long way toward making a student’s trip safe and memorable. The experts at the Student and Youth Travel Association (SYTA) suggest parents can be better informed and prepared by asking the following questions:

•What is the travel provider’s experience in youth and student travel? How long has it been in business?

•How many chaperones are going on the trip? Who are they?

•Is the tour provider a member of a professional travel association such as SYTA?

Many consider SYTA the “seal of approval” for travel companies working with students and youths. Member companies must commit to consumer satisfaction and a strict code of ethics. If your child is going on a student trip, make sure you have a 24-hour contact number to use in case of emergency.
