Calabasas Chamber hosts key events, including Method Fest kickoff The Calabasas Chamber of Commerce will present two mixers and a luncheon this month. From 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. tonight, Thurs., Feb. 16, Chamber members and the public are invited to the Calabasas Chamber of Commerce and Method Fest Mixer and Film Preview presented by Prudential California Realty, John Aaroe Division in Calabasas. The event is free and will be at the Agoura Hills/Calabasas Community Center, 27040 Malibu Hills Road, Calabasas. The mixer features a tribute to actor Ernie Hudson, a Hidden Hills resident and the night’s honorary host. There will also be a presentation of The Method Fest Community Hero Award to festival supporters Jeff Malone of Standard Pacific Homes and Tim Smith of Bob Smith BMW. The evening will be highlighted by a sneak preview of “Queen of Cactus Cove,” a short film from this year’s festival lineup, followed by a question-and-answer session with the film’s director, Anna Christopher. Lead actors Alia Shawkat (“Arrested Development”) and Alex Frost (“Elephant”) have been invited to the event. Appetizers and cocktails will be served and there will be door prizes. Other activies The Chamber also will host a mixer at 6 p.m. Wed., Feb. 22, followed by the eighth annual State of the City Address at 7 p.m. by Mayor Barry Groveman at Calabasas City Hall, 26135 Mureau Road, Calabasas. Admission is free. In addition, the Chamber will host a luncheon from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. Thurs., Feb. 23 at the Calabasas Inn, 23500 Park Sorrento, Calabasas. Featured speaker Brian Buehring, regional manager and vice president for AllianceBernstein, will present a talk on the global economy. Luncheon participants will learn about “Capital markets outlook, China: is the world really prepared?
