Council made wrong decision on Lowe’s

Congratulations, Westlake City Council. You have just prevented the residents of Westlake Village from having a new, onestory, beautifully designed and landscaped home improvement center (not a hardware store), possible Ruth’s Chris steak house , a Daily Grill, a Junior’s Deli and and possibly a car showroom.

These businesses would have brought in hundred of thousands of dollars in tax revenue to help our village retain its unique, small-town quality and give residents a place to meet and eat.

Instead, you voted for a multistory office complex to be built adjacent to the multi-story office complex we can already see framed next to what should have been the Town Center. Unmentioned in all the city council hearings is the enormous office building complex ready to start construction on the south side of the 101 Freeway between the Hyatt Hotel and Lakeview Canyon.

We are now sentenced for life to three huge office complexes, two new hotels and unbelievable traffic tie-ups from strangers pouring into and out of our village five or six days each week, especially at rush hours. The city will receive very little revenue from these offices and the restaurants will be too crowded for the locals.

We fail to see the benefit to the residents.

Goodbye, Westlake Village. Hello, Westlake City. JoAn and Barry Gumbert Westlake Village
