Calabasas High School alumna lights up Carnegie Hall

DREAM COMES TRUE—Lauren Criddle, a Calabasas High School graduate, is well on her way to he big time, having just performed as a vocalist at Carnegie Hall. For her next act, the 22-year-old soprano is beginning studies at the Teatro Communale Firenze, Italy’s celebrated opera house. For her next act, the 22-year-old soprano is beginning studies at the Teatro Communale Firenze, Italy’s celebrated opera house. Lauren Michelle Criddle, a 22-year-old soprano and Calabasas High School graduate, performed at Carnegie Hall on Feb. 2 as part of a showcase of vocal artists presented by the National Association of Negro Business and Professional Women’s Clubs.

Criddle, who received her bachelor’s of music from the Juillard School last June, will begin work on a master’s at the Teatro Comunale Firenze in Florence, Italy, the only American admitted to the program.

Criddle has already received numerous awards and honors for her vocal talents and has participated in a variety of musical programs, including Boston University’s Tanglewood Institute. Her résumé includes performances in Los Angeles, France, Italy, England and New York.

Though adjusting to a blossoming performing career, Criddle finds time to work with elementary and high school age students and has conducted workships in New York, Los Angeles, Calabasas, Oakland and South Africa.
