Congregation moves into new facility “The Lord was calling us to plant a new church in Newbury Park,” said the Rev. Doug Posey, senior pastor of Living Oaks Community Church. His vision of a new congregation in the area began as they met in the gymnasium of Newbury Park’s Borchard Community Center in October 2004. The Rev. Dan Miller, executive pastor, said Living Oaks Community Church began as a “church plant” of Calvary Community Church in Thousand Oaks. He described it as a nondenominational Christian congregation basically functioning in a friendly familyoriented atmosphere. Since that first meeting in 2004, this fledgling group of Christian believers has grown to a congregation of nearly 400. In order to meet its expanding membership, they have acquired larger facilities at 1033 Business Center Circle (off Wendy Drive at the 101 Freeway). A grand opening celebration is being planned for Sun., Feb. 5. Services are scheduled at 9 a.m. and 11 a.m. The public is invited to participate in the celebration, as well as other services that will begin at 9 a.m. and 11 a.m. each Sunday.
