Visitor thanks local dentist My name is Alan Kirby, a native of Dublin City, Ireland. I recently had the pleasure to visit Agoura for the Christmas holidays, not my first visit, I might add, but one I shall not forget for two reasons: namely, for the first time in years, I was struck down by dental problems in the shape of a severe tooth ache. I had the pleasure in meeting a wonderful dentist called Dr. Craig Shore of Agoura Medical Center, Canwood Street. On the morning of Wed. 28, Dec. 5, having had no reasonable sleep in two nights due to pain, I contacted Mr. Shore’s office. I explained to his secretary my situation, tourist. Within seconds, an appointment was made for that afternoon. On my arrival, I was greeted by his very kind staff. In turn they helped me through the paper work, etc. They offered someone who was away from home and out of his depth a warm and pleasant welcome. On meeting Dr. Shore, I could gather that I was in safe hands. He immediately made an examination and informed me that, in his opinion, I had an abscess on the base of my tooth. An x-ray was required to verify this. With the result of the x-ray in hand, he informed me that, indeed, it was an abscess and on my return to Dublin I would require root canal treatment. To ease the pain until my return home, he prescribed antibiotics and pain killers. One of his staff members called ahead to the pharmacy, so I would not have to wait for my prescription. Among other paperwork, Dr. Shore gave me a copy of the xray results to forward to my own dentist on my return to Dublin. So when it came to the bill for this wonderful service, to this tourist in trouble away from home, the bill came to zero, nothing. He had simply chosen kindness and goodwill above profit margins. For this reason I had promised myself that on my return home, I would write to your paper to acknowledge his kind deed. Alan Kirby Dublin, Ireland |
