President is slick about his reasons for war

As of Jan. 18, 2,222 Americans have died in Iraq. How wonderful it would be if were only a number. But it’s not. It is 2,222 individual lives lost.

Our brave soldiers are dying in Iraq so Americans at home can fill our cars, SUVs and trucks with gas and help the oil companies make another $100 billion again this year. The reality is that we’re in Iraq, not for WMDs or humanitarian causes, but to keep the oil flowing and satisfying the greed of the oil companies and their buddies. They want to keep us hooked on oil like a drug dealer keeps a junkie hooked on crack.

If anybody still believes otherwise it’s time to wake up. The real news is out there. It won’t be found just watching CNN, Fox News or “The Simpsons” reruns. If Iraq did not have oil would we be waging a war there? George W. sold the American people on war with lies and deception and now Americans are paying the price with there lives.

It’s time to do something about it. At the very least let’s stop making up excuses why we need to drive a large gas-guzzling SUV and get rid of them as soon as possible and turn them into something useful like scrap mental.

It’s America; we have the right to drive whatever we want. But do we have the moral right to watch another American die in Iraq for our precious oil while we drive another monster SUV off the showroom floor?

We need to support our troops with more then a yellow magnetic ribbon on the rear end of a gasdevouring SUV. Show true support by putting that yellow ribbon on a car that’s easy on the gas and shows we truly care.

We need to start preparing for the future by making responsible choices today so our sons and daughters won’t be held hostage by oil. Mark Rackow Agoura Hills
