Genealogists to research county’s pioneer Jews The Jewish Genealogical Society of the Conejo Valley and Ventura County (JGSCV), will meet from 2 to 4 p.m. Sun., Feb. 5 at Temple Adat Elohim, 2420 E. Hillcrest Drive, Thousand Oaks. The meeting’s topic is “Jewish Treasures in the Ventura County Museum of History and Art.” Charles Johnson, librarian and associate director of the museum, will discuss the museum’s archives and resources related to the pioneer Jews of Ventura County. Attendees will learn how to research their Ventura County pioneer ancestors dating to 1873 by using biographical resources. Johnson will present historical research depicting time and place—providing “windows of our past.” JGSCV is dedicated to sharing genealogical information, techniques and research tools with anyone interested in Jewish family history. There is no charge to attend the meeting. Annual dues are $25 for an individual and $30 for a family. For more information e-mail publicity@jgscv.org or call Jan Meisels Allen at (818) 889-6616. |
