Artist recalls his life’s work
BILL SPARKES/Acorn Newspapers EQUINE ILLUSTRATOR—Fred Stone, one of the most recognized painters of horses in the world, speaks to about 90 people at an event hosted by the Westlake Village Art Guild recently. Stone recalled the many rejections he received when he first started painting and was told “no one wants to buy paintings of horses.” His work now hangs in the White House and the home of Britain’s Queen Elizabeth II. Stone holds the record of painting the largest equine mural in the world, which measures 12 by 120 feet and can be seen in the Paris Hotel in Las Vegas. |
