Exercise programs available for Agoura Hills Seniors

The city of Agoura Hills Department of Community Services offers the following programs for adults ages 50 and above. To enroll, participants must be a registered member of the city’s Senior Recreation Program. Members pay a$12 annual fee.

Beginning and Intermediate t’ai chi, an exercise program that facilitates balance, posture and reduces stress, is available from 9 to 10 a.m. (intermediate) or 10 to 11 a.m. (beginning) on Mondays and Wednesdays from Jan. 23 to Feb. 15 at Reyes Adobe Park, 30400 Rainbow Crest Drive. The class is $28.

The Senior Recreation Program also offers a “Gentle Yoga” class, ongoing from 8:30 to 9:30 a.m. Monday, Wednesday and Friday at the Agoura Hills Recreation Center, 30610 Thousand Oaks Blvd. The fee for an eightweek course is $21 for once a week, $35 for twice a week, and $45 for three times per week.

In addition, fitness classes for the general adult population are also available on an ongoing basis at the Recreation Center.

Pilates classes are from 5:30 to 6:30 p.m. Mondays ($8 per class).

Yoga is from 5:30 to 6:30 p.m. Wednesdays ($7 per class).

Cardio Kickbox, a high-energy aerobics class offered for the first time this month, will be from 7:15 to 8:15 a.m. Tuesdays and Thursdays, with a fee of $8 per class. Fitness classes are open to all ages and abilities—beginners are welcome.
