Scholar to speak

Professor Douglas W. Kmiec, a scholar and commentator at Pepperdine Law School in Malibu, will be the guest speaker at the Westlake Village Republican Women Federated meeting on Fri., Jan. 20 at Sherwood Country Club, Thousand Oaks. A social hour will begin at 11:30 a.m. and lunch will be served at noon.

Kmiec writes a syndicated column for the Catholic News Service. He is also a frequent contributor to newspapers, including the Los Angeles Times and the Wall Street Journal. He regularly appears on news programs, including “Meet the Press.”

Kmiec is a member of the bar of the U.S. Supreme Court and state bars of Illinois and California. His discussion at the lunch will be “Witness for the Constitution: The Case for Sam Alito.”
