Emergent Care Center opens in Newbury Park

There’s a new option for Conejo Valley residents who experience sudden or unexpected injury or illness— Emergent Care Center, which opened in Newbury Park in December. More than an after-hours medical facility, the center is equipped with the latest in high-tech diagnostic equipment and staffed by board-certified emergency physicians to provide families with quick and easily accessible care for immediate, nonlife-threatening medical situations.

The center was established by Dr. Marlin Trainer, a veteran boardcertified emergency room physician, who recognized a growing need in communities for fast, efficient and quality medical attention for families and individuals. Open from 6 a.m. to 2 a.m. daily, the center guarantees that patients will be seen by an emergency physician within 30 minutes of arrival.

“When people have an unexpected medical situation, they don’t want to wait hours to receive help,” said Trainer. “Our Emergent Care Center is designed to take the extra burden of long waits, mounds of paperwork and sheer frustration out of the equation.”

Quick, responsive and familyfriendly, the center’s physicians are trained to handle virtually any emergent medical situation, from minor illnesses like fevers, flu, sprains and fractures, to more potentially serious illnesses like asthma attacks, chest pains or wounds. The center is fully equipped with the latest in medical technology, including a CT scan, Xray, ultrasound and a full on-site diagnostic laboratory, so immediate medical care and diagnosis can be provided.

The center has 10 private patient rooms and a comfortable waiting room. “We want our patients to have a more comforting and personalized experience than what they might be used to, especially when facing an unexpected medical situation,” Trainer said.

The center operates on a fee-forservice basis, with payment due at the time treatment is rendered. Billing is all-inclusive. Patients receive one bill for all on-site services. Bills are itemized and precoded for submission by the patient to their applicable insurance providers.

Continuity of care is an important aspect of treatment at the center. Physicians work directly with a patient’s personal physician to secure hospital admission, if necessary, or to send a complete record of care, so no lapse in needed medical treatment is experienced.

Emergent Care Center is off the 101 Freeway in the Regency Medical Plaza building, 1000 Newbury Road. The center’s entrance is in the rear of the building. Through Feb. 28, Emergent Care Center is offering free cholesterol and diabetes screenings to local residents who bring in the center’s advertisement featured in current issues of the Acorn newspaper. These free screenings are limited to Conejo Valley residents.
