Positive parenting to be discussed

Monte Vista Presbyterian Church will sponsor a seminar for parents, “How to Get Your Youngsters to Mind Without Losing Your Mind!” from 7 to 8:30 p.m. Thurs., Jan. 12 at 3797 W. Lynn Road, Newbury Park. Admission is free.

Facilitated by Tom Prinz, MS, a marriage and family therapist, this seminar is for parents who desire more positive relationships at home and desire their children to be more successful at school.

Parents will learn specific strategies on how to make their home a more positive place. The importance of giving children chores and how to get them to complete them without yelling and nagging will also be discussed as well as how hidden factors will impact a parent’s role. Prinz is an author and former school psychologist and has counseled in private practice for the last 25 years.
