Trash your electronics properly

The city of Calabasas offers free electronic waste collection from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. on the first Saturday of the month at the future Calabasas Civic Center site at Park Sorrento, behind the Commons Shopping Center.

Acceptable items include answering machines, camcorders, CD players, copiers, fax machines, laptops, computers, microwave ovens, stereos, tape players, telephones, VCRs and other items. No hazardous waste materials will be accepted.

From 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. on the second Saturday of the month the city offers free water-base paint and used oil collection at the Calabasas Tennis and Swim Center, 23400 Park Sorrento.

Accepted waste at this event is antifreeze, automobile batteries, used oil, oil filters and latex paint.
