Las Virgenes School Board reorganizes
Dave Moorman Cindy Iser replaced Gordon Whitehead as the president of the Las Virgenes Unified School District Board of Education during last week’s annual board reorganization meeting.
Terilyn Finders will serve as vice president, and Pat Schulz will take the helm as clerk. Dave Moorman was sworn into office as the newest member of the board. Whitehead, who was absent due to a health issue, will rotate to a board member.
The reorganization meeting followed a celebration that honored Judy Jordan, a 16-year board member who retired. Board members thanked Jordan for being a “role model.”
Superintendent Sandra Smyser explained that she chose to wear an American flag lapel pin at the meeting as a thank you to the people who “subjected themselves” to the election. She added a note of appreciation and respect to all of the board members for their hard work and dedication to the school district.
Committee appointments were announced. Moorman will represent the district in the Los Angeles County School Trustees Association, and Schulz will continue in her role on the executive board of Ventura County School Boards Association. Smyser will serve as secretary to the board.
