Two local teachers attend special state workshop

Teachers Carol Firestone of Lindero Canyon Middle School in Agoura Hills and Sandra Fleishman of Yerba Buena Elementary School in Agoura Hills were invited by State Superintendent of Schools Jack O’Connell to participate in the Professional Development of California Teachers of the Year Workshop in Sacramento on Wed., Dec. 7. Both had previously been honored as California Teachers of the Year.

The theme of the program was “Teacher Impact on Student Achievement.” Both Firestone and Fleishman have taken leadership roles within the Las Virgenes Unified School District in promoting skills and strategies to assist other teachers in improving achievement scores throughout the district.
