Tanks for the info

Perhaps the most beautiful panorama in all of Oak Park looks out at the Palo Camado Canyon area of the National Recreational Area, viewed from the trail originating on Doubletree. This view is a treasure to hikers and bikers and all of us who live in Oak Park.

This is why I am very disturbed that Triunfo Sanitation District is considering building a huge water storage tank there. Along with the tank, they would build security fencing, a turnout and road around the tank, motion-activated lighting and a road with a ditch leading to the tank.

At the last Triunfo board meeting, narrowing the possible tank locations to this Site A8 and one other possibility was an action item on the agenda. This did not come up for a vote because Supervisor Parks asked the board to look into sharing a tank site with the Las Virgenes Water District, prior to proceeding.

However, I think this or a similar item will be on the agenda again this month. Instead, I am asking the Triunfo Board to find a reasonable tank site in the water zone it serves. Site A8 is in another zone. Protecting natural panoramas is a major feature of the Oak Park General Plan and a tank at Site A8 would wreck the most beautiful view of all.

Please come to the board meeting on Mon., Dec. 19 at 5:15 p.m. at the Oak Park Library and join me in saying, “no to Site A8.” Janna Orkney Oak Park
