City rewards ‘Recycler’

The Calabasas Environmental Commission named Narive Kavakian of Calabasas as the “Recycler of the Month” for November. Kavakian received a $250 prize at the commission’s Dec. 6 meeting.

The “Recycler of the Month” drawing was initiated by the Calabasas Public Works Department to encourage residents and businesses to recycle. Residents who regularly recycle can fill out an entry card and return it to city hall. Entry cards were enclosed in the October edition of the city newsletter.

At each commission meeting, one card will be selected at random. Once the city staff verifies that the resident selected recycles, the winner is presented with a plaque and a $250 check at the next commission meeting.

The commission meets the first Tuesday of every month at 7 p.m.
