Republican women to host holiday gala

Event is 11 a.m., Wed. Dec. 14

Thousand Oaks Republican Women Federated will host a Christmas and Holiday Gala beginning with an 11 a.m. reception on Wed., Dec. 14 at Sherwood Country Club, 320 W. Stafford Road, Thousand Oaks. A luncheon and program will follow at noon. RSVP is due by today, Thurs, Dec. 8, to Rosemary Licata at (818) 889-4839.

The holiday luncheon will feature the Voices of Christmas carolers, starlet Juliette Goglia, fashion and holiday boutiques. The installation of officers for 2006 is also planned.

Special guest speaker Mark Roosa is the dean of libraries at Pepperdine University. For the past six years, Roosa was a director and chief at the Library of Congress in Washington, D.C., where he was responsible for leading four divisions, two special programs, overseeing an $11 million budget and coordinating key activities in three Capitol Hill locations, as well as off-site facilities. He has also developed preservation, collection management and access plans for institutions including the Huntington Library, Santa Monica Historical Society and the Getty Center for Research in the Arts and Humanities.

The cost for the gala is $49 for members and guests, and $35 for students.
