Conifer mailbox should be moved

I’m a new school crossing guard at Kanan Road and Conifer Street. I start at 7:45 a.m. and see the flowing both in the morning and afternoon. The post office has a public post box on Kanan about 10 feet from the corner of the Kanan and Conifer signal. I have informed the postmaster of the Agoura Hills Post Office this this is a dangerous situation. Cars stop and open doors to oncoming traffic. I counted approximately 10 potential accidents that could have occurred.

The excuse the postmaster gave was that the post box has been in service for 14 years. What they have not observed is the traffic has changed in the last 14 years. These parked cars can be hit by cars, people on bicycles and people turning on Conifer with no view of parked persons dropping off mail.

What they need to do is move the postal box to another location to prevent a fatal accident. Morris Russo Oak Park
