Nordhoff (7-2) at Oaks Christian (8-0) Moorpark (6-3) at Westlake (3-6)
JANN HENDRY/Acorn NewspaperALEXANDER THE GREAT—Oak Park running back Matt Alexandeplows through the Fillmore defense in route to a 161-yard rushing game. Alexander and the Eagles host Santa Paula tonight. Outlook: Nordhoff loves to run the football, as evidenced by the Rangers’ 2,161 rushing yards thus far. In fact, Nordhoff enters this game with six players on its roster that have run for more than 100 yards on the season.
Suffice it to say, the Rangers only hope in this contest rests in their ability to hold onto the football and dominate the time of possession.
But even if the Rangers can control the flow of the game and the clock, it still might not be enough against an Oaks Christian offensive attack that’s averaging 55.5 points per game.
Keep an eye on Lion wideout
Sean Wiser. He’s scored eight
touchdowns on just 23 receptions.
Outlook: Moorpark knocked Westlake out of a potential playoff spot in 2004 with 19-14 victory in the regular-season finale.
This year, the Warriors will hope to extract a small bit of revenge as the Musketeers travel to Warrior Stadium, hoping to gain at least a share of the Marmonte League championship.
If Moorpark beats Westlake and Thousand Oaks defeats Newbury Park Friday night, the Musketeers are outright league champions. If Newbury Park wins, Moorpark needs a victory to gain a share of the title.
Stopping sophomore running back Darrell Scott, the Marmonte’s second-leading rusher, should be the Warriors’ top priority.
