What about that SUV pollution?

I almost fell out of my chair laughing when I read that the Calabasas City Council, citing concerns about secondhand smoke, is considering a ban on smoking outside. The restaurant patrons at The Commons want to sit and not be annoyed by someone smoking outside, yet they’re sucking big wind from the parade of gigantic Escalades and other gas-guzzling uber-polluters circling like hogs for a parking place. Have you ever sat by an idling SUV? It’s enough to make you pass out.

If the Calabasas City Council truly cares about the air quality, they would step up to the plate and ban SUVs from the city limits.

Get real and get off your high horses and do something that matters. Go ahead and ban a few smokers and you can feel good about yourselves. Meanwhile, we’ll all breathe in the pollution from SUVs until we keel over. You want to save our lungs from secondhand smoke? Then do the right thing and stop real pollution.
