Thanks to community for new Tapia water permit

It was wonderful to see our community come forward with over 100 local citizens attending the Regional Water Quality Control Board hearing in September. Subsequent changes to the regional board’s permit showed that our message urging moderation and more studies came across.

Westlake Village has and will continue to invest in the stewardship of the magnificent environment we call home. Nevertheless, we will not support regulations that lack a firm scientific foundation and risk hundreds of millions of public dollars on environmental fixes that may fix nothing.

The new permit for Tapia appears to be a reasonable compromise and one that is workable.

Kudos to the staff of the regional board and our local water agencies in arriving at an agreement that is doable, supportable and will benefit the sensitive region in which we live and work. Philippa Klessig Westlake Village City Council
