Dogs breed good will Since last week’s Acorn printed the story about Graci, my therapy dog-in-training, I have had numerous inquires about how to go about having a therapy dog. To learn more about therapy dog volunteer work, there are two excellent organizations: Therapy Dogs International Inc. at www.tdidog.org and the Delta Society at www.deltasociety.org. Both are dedicated to providing quality and registration of qualified dogs and handlers. Canine membership includes all breeds and mixed breed dogs. You get to keep your dog. All dogs are tested and evaluated for therapy work by certified evaluators. To see the smiles and happiness on the faces of the elderly or a sick child these four-footed therapists bring is beyond words. Your visit can make a difference in someone’s quality of life. In the simple service of giving, you will get back tenfold. Craige Story and Graci Westlake Village |
