Prize-winning photo is no small feat


BEAUTY IN THE EYE OF THE BEHOLDER—Derek Gardner, a professional automotive photographer from Oak Park, received a Lucie Award for this shot of his daughter’s Chihuahua, Itsy Bitsy, posing with a Toyota Scion. The Lucie, presented by the International Photography Awards, is the Oscar of the photography world. Gardner’s image, which won third place, was one of 32,000 entries from 16 countries honored at an awards ceremony last month in New York.
