Jewish Academy to screen documentary

The Conejo Jewish Academy will screen a film directed by French director Pierre Rehov, “The Road to Jenin,” at 8 p.m. Mon., Nov. 14 at 30345 Canwood St., Agoura Hills. The film focuses on the Israeli army attempt to combat terrorist cells based in Jenin which spawned more than half the suicide bombings against Israeli civilians.

According to the documentary, Israel initially took the dangerous step of sending infantry to fight house-to-house to minimize civilian casualties. After nearly two dozen of their men were lost to ambushes, snipers, and boobytrapped houses, Israel brought in bulldozers for use in a limited area, a step which led to the surrender of the Palestinian fighters.

The world media and the U.N. criticized Israel for the “massacre.” The film tries to clear the air.

“As long as most media will lie, peace won’t be possible in the Middle East,” said Rehov.

Admission is $7. Call (818) 991-0991 for advance reservations or register online at website www.jewishacademy.com.
